About MARK
Mark Perez has been writing professionally since the late 90’s (which means he’s super old). A graduate of Florida State University with a 2.6 GPA in English Lit, his job options were limited to either following in his father’s footsteps and selling pool equipment or taking his Abuela’s suggestion and working for Kmart (they don’t exist anymore so that would have been a bad choice). So, instead, he moved to Los Angeles to hide from his peers who were doing better than him financially.
There he decided to pursue writing. And in 2000, he was lucky enough to be accepted into Disney’s Writers Program Inaugural Class where he wrote “The Country Bears.” A movie which quickly forced Disney to decommission the ride. He has since worked with many of Hollywood’s most esteemed performers; from Steve Martin, Adam Sandler, and Diane Keaton all the way down to P-Diddy and J-Lo. His first book, “How to Win at Life by Cheating at Everything” was released by Dark Horse Books and Penguin Random House. Go buy it. It’s down to like two bucks on Amazon.
His movie, GAME NIGHT, staring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman, released by Warner Bros and New Line Pictures, is on VOD and Blu-ray now!
In Mark’s free time, he is dedicated to helping animals and serves as Vice President of Women United for Animal Welfare (WUFAW). A nonprofit that partners with organizations around the world to enhance the lives of stray animals and pets. They provide financial support, contribute medical equipment and animal supplies, send personnel to vet clinics in need, create spay/neuter programs and offer valuable advice to animal rescue organizations globally.
He has also opened his home to fostering over 100 dogs and quite a few pot bellied pigs. He lives an environmentally conscious lifestyle and has been vegetarian for over 15 years and vegan for 4.
